Rotation #1

We’ll divide into four small groups to experience a site tour dedicated to one of the four pillars of event resilience. Learn more about each session by clicking the appropriate button. Over the course of the day, every group will rotate through each of the four sessions.

Emergency Response Training

CPR Anytime & Stop the Bleed Training

11:00 am – 12:00 pm

This intensive workshop equips participants with several potentially life-saving skills for situations where time is of the essence. CPR can more than double a victim’s chance of survival when administered in the critical minutes after they have suffered cardiac arrest. “Stop the Bleed” training covers how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly and effectively to control bleeding through three quick techniques.

Overdose Prevention Training

12:50 pm – 1:20 pm

In this training you’ll learn about the importance of calling 9-1-1 in the event of an overdose, how to perform rescue breathing and how to administer nasal Narcan, and about the various treatment options that exist for opioid users.

We’ll return to our four smaller groups from the morning to experience a site tour dedicated to the next of our four pillars of event resilience. Regroup at the Resilience Tent to reflect together on the day’s learnings. We’ll hear remakrs from Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and other special guests, and take a final group photo together.

We’ll tour the BAMS Festival stage, entry points, and other notable locations, examining the event design through the lens of safety. Our facilitators bring considerations and lessons learned from across the worlds of events, activism, and emergency planning.

Sustainability

How can we design more environmentally sustainable mass gatherings of all kinds? Our site tour investigates best practices in alternative energy, waste reduction/management, food vendor agreements and more. You’ll also get an introduction to the paid hands-on training that PowerCorpsBOS provides to prepare a new workforce in green industries.

Accessibility

Did you know about 1 in 4 adults has a physical or sensory disability? Are you designing your events with their needs in mind? Experience a festival from the perspective of someone with a physical or sensory disability. Our tour highlights specific accessibility considerations and inclusive practices for stages, bathrooms, concessions, and parking.

Community

Who are we welcoming into our events? How can arts and culture spearhead broader community strategies to increase emergency preparedness and resilience? From vendors to murals to the festival program itself, our community engagement tour of the festival highlights local activations and relevant design factors.
